In the Internet of Things, ‘things’ are expected to become active participants in business, information and social processes where they are enabled to interact and communicate among themselves and with the environment by exchanging data and information ‘sensed’ about the environment, while reacting autonomously to the ‘real/physical world’ events and influencing it by running processes that trigger actions and create services with or without direct human intervention. Interfaces in the form of services facilitate interactions with these ‘smart things’ over the Internet, query and change their state and any information associated with them, taking into account security and privacy issues.

IoT technologies solve business problems and generate new revenue, but implementing them is a complex task. Gadgeon is working in the area of Internet of Things for quite sometime and its technical leadership is constantly tracking evolution of IoT in various industry verticals. As part of this initiative, GadgEon has chosen widely accepted open source platform for IoT implementation, OpenIOT management platform developed by EU. GadgEon has customized OpenIOT platform for easy integration of applications that promote and realise the convergence of cloud-computing with the Internet of Things.

What is Open-IOT ?

The main goal of the OpenIoT project is to provide an open source blueprint infrastructure for on-demand utility-based IoT applications. The heart of this infrastructure comprises a middleware framework.Which facilitates service providers to deploy and monitor IoT applications in the cloud, while also enables service integrators and end-users to access and orchestrate internet-connected objects (ICOs) and their data.

  • Web2.0 based UI toolkit provided by OpenIOT facilitates the following on a browser based drag/drop capable UI:
  • Simplified representation of complex network structures in terms of UI widgets that indicate message flow, filters applied, aggregated results etc.
  • Deriving presentation UI widgets such as real-time dashboards etc.
  • Framework is open to customization for supporting more unique UI widgets.
  • SOA APIs(based on REST) facilitates easier integration with other UI applications such as smart-phone/tablet native applications.
