The Need
Our Customer, a leading US based Bio-Medical company wanted to develop a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation Therapy system controlled through a mobile app.
Impacts Delivered
- By leveraging patient’s cell phone, enabled personalized experience delivery.
- Mobile app enabled:
- Complete coordination, scheduling, and execution of the therapy.
- Accurate generation of current pulse for nerve stimulation via BLE.
- Generation of user alerts for therapies.
- Operational monitoring and display of parameters of the system.
Our Solution
- Designed, developed, and tested the end-to-end system covering hardware device, embedded firmware, and an Android based mobile application
- Mobile application was developed on the Android platform and was tested for its functionality
- Firmware Architecture for complete system was designed using custom BLE profiles.
- Developed the embedded firmware for BLE based system, along with its integration and testing on reference platform and target platform.
- Pulse amplitude and duty cycle are controlled in firmware according to settings from the mobile application
- Firmware monitors the operating conditions like temperature, voltage and stop the therapy if limits are exceeded.
- Schedules stored in firmware and device starts the therapy according to the schedule through the mobile application
- Mobile application is used to configure the waveform shape, according to the needs of patients
